About
Sara Kim Hopkins is a documentary filmmaker and graphic designer.
Currently, she oversees branding and design at the San Mateo County Office of Education, to further the mission of providing equity and excellence in public education throughout San Mateo County. She creates digital and print materials, and produces videos highlighting students, school leaders, and education programs and initiatives.
From 2018 - 2020 she was a staff editor/associate producer at Pixela Films. She edited advertisements, social media posts, trailers, and feature-length documentaries. In addition she worked as a camera operator and production assistant, often abroad in Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, and Lebanon. Her work within the humanitarian sector has helped drive donor engagement and reinforce narratives of self-empowerment within refugee communities.
Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a Master’s degree from Columbia Journalism School with a focus in documentary film.
